As of Wednesday, the 2011 Coachella set times have been available from the official website.  As they stand now, they’re decent, but like any stacked lineup, has way too many conflicts to handle.  So here are my projected set times for Friday:

FRIDAY

1:15-1:55: THE RURAL ALBERTA ADVANTAGE (OUTDOOR THEATRE)

Folk rock in the traditional Saddle Creek vein.  A good modest start to the fest.

1:55-2:40: BLACK JOE LEWIS & THE HONEYBEARS (MOJAVE TENT)

Blues driven funk, should be tons of fun, his latest release this year, Scandalous, is miles above his decent debut, a must see performance

2:20-3:10: !!! (OUTDOOR THEATRE)

A perfect afternoon set, ridden with sweaty dance filled numbers

3:30-4:15: TITUS ANDRONICUS (OUTDOOR THEATRE)

Last year’s The Monitor, a sprawling mid 19th century concept album, was met with high praise.  Let’s see if the live show delivers as well!

4:30-5:20: THE MORNING BENDERS (GOBI TENT)

Produced by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, San Francisco’s Morning Benders should provide a pleasant mid afternoon romp through delicate harmony laden chamber pop.

5:20-6:05: THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART (MOJAVE TENT)

It was either these guys or Ariel Pink.  As much as I love Ariel Pink, I have to side with the Pains.  Their new album (Belong) is just too good to pass up the live experience for.

5:50-6:35: TAME IMPALA (OUTDOOR THEATRE)

Depending on how good or bad the Pains’ set is, I may see the latte half or all of this Australian psychedelic group.  Their 2010 album, InnerSpeaker, is so good, I’m hoping I’ll see at least 60% of the set.

7:25-8:15: INTERPOL (MAIN STAGE)

After years of missing them, I am finally able to see the New York City based post punk group.  I am crossing my fingers for a more early album oriented set list.  Just as long as I can hear “Obstacle 1” live, I am content.

8:35-9:25: CUT COPY (MOJAVE TENT)

I missed them last year at Lollapalooza in favor of Phoenix, but now I can witness the full set of this incredible Australian dance pop group.  With the release of this year’s incredible Zonoscope, the set list should be spectacular.

9:00-10:00: BEARDYMAN (OASIS DOME)

This is an iffy set to catch.  I may just check him out for a brief bit of time, but his humor combined with his incredible talent of beatboxing and improvised arrangements is hard to pass up.

9:45-10:30: THE AQUABATS (MOJAVE TENT)

A random band that I never thought I would have seen, but a fun band nonetheless.  Bring on the ska!

10:45-11:35: NOSAJ THING (GOBI TENT)

A perfect late night set, booming bass heavy dub step to the backdrop of palm trees, desert, and mountains…

12:05—-: GAYNGS (MOJAVE TENT)

This low key, downtempo R&B group will be a terrific closer to the night

All right, well, we’ll see you tomorrow!
